STANDARD TWEEP TATTLER QUESTIONS

1) Where do you live?

Cambridgeshire, England. Though I was born and raised in Scotland.

2) What is the first thing you remember writing?

A story about a car race when I was about 12.

3) Why do you write?

I have always loved dark and gritty fantasy books of old. Books by David Gemmell or Fritz Leiber. Then later authors like Joe Abercrombie or Scott Lynch. So, I thought I would try writing them.

4) Have you published any of your work?

I have self-published a number of books and created a few Audiobooks.

5) What are you currently writing?

Just finished a short story on being Dyslexic in the modern world.

6) Are you currently querying?

No.

7) Finish this sentence (three lines or less):

IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT… Lizzie kissed her husband passionately on the lips before placing his severed head back in the fridge. With a smile she turned, picked up her keys for the kitchen table and made her way to the front door…

8) Which activities do you like to participate in, in the Twitter writing community (VSS365, etc.)?

 None, but would like to.

9) Do you have any formal training/education for writing?

None.

10) Do the people in your life know that you write?

Yes.

11) Tell me about the people in your life. Family? Pets?

I am married with 3 stepchildren and a cat called Kobe.

12) Where do you wish your writing to take you?

Honestly? As far as it can, whilst remaining happy doing it.

13) What did you expect when you joined the Twitter writing community? Did it turn out as expected?

I came with no expectations. So, I am really pleased to say I am chatting to some great like minded people and I am enjoying the experience.

14) Where do you write?

Curled up on the sofa.

15) How much time do you dedicate to writing, weekly?

Lately very little. However, when I write it's about 4 – 5 hours writing. 50+ hours thinking about plot lines, characters and what points I want to make.

16) Do you have other talents?

Em, walking if that counts? I am planning to walk the West Highland Way which is 100 miles in 6 days.

17) CHOOSE ONE:

  1. I do not mind when other writers ask for advice. I choose this one.

  2. I’d rather keep to myself!

About Alan Scott

Alan was born and raised on the West Coast of Scotland. He joined the Royal Air Force

in his youth and travelled the world, where he met the wicked and the witless, as well

as the kind and thoughtful.

Later in life, with the help of a proofreader from Texas, USA, and an illustrator from

Berlin, Germany, he created a werewolf dark fantasy The Storm Series.

Alan's greatest writing achievement so far is to have his story, Deadly Tap of a Cane, chosen by WorldReader for their use. This charitable organisation (http://www.worldreader.org) aims to help spread ebooks and literacy in developing countries.

Alan is dyslexic, and recently wrote a short story showing what it is like being dyslexic

and breaking stereotypes about the disability.
